The Office of Environmental Health & Safety has earned campus safety and efficiency awards for the following:

2014

Solutions at Work AwardSolutions at Work Award
Awarded by: Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA)
For: Development and implementation of its mobile safety and security app, HSC eduSafe
Purpose: To promote interest in developing programs that solve or improve specific safety problems at colleges and universities and to encourage institutions to share ideas or projects that work for them.

This award was presented to EHS based on:

  • the reason for implementation;
  • cost of implementation;
  • method of implementation;
  • scope of program;
  • and applicability to other institutions.

Models of Efficiency Award 
Awarded by: University Business Magazine
For: Improvements in the development of its risk-based inspection schedule and report (RBISAR) generating software

The software accomplishes the following:

  • processes the data collected during a safety inspection;
  • automates risk assessment;
  • produces a risk-based safety inspection schedule;
  • and decreases time to generate an inspection report 78%.

2013

Models of Efficiency Award
Awarded by: University Business Magazine in 2013
For: Development and implementation of a mobile safety and security app for smartphone and tablet devices.

The app, HSC eduSafe, enables faculty, staff, students, and visitors:

  • to access pertinent safety, security, and emergency preparedness information;
  • to report hazards on campus, manage their parking permits, navigate maps to buildings and parking areas;
  • view Clery Act reports for each of the TAMHSC campuses;
  • and even request a Security escort with a single touch of a button.

2012

Models of Efficiency Award
Awarded by: University Business Magazine in 2013
For: Innovative mobile safety inspection processes

Utilizing intuitive form building software to create electronic safety inspection forms, EHS now conducts all safety inspections using mobile devices, greatly reducing the amount of time needed to conduct inspections and generate reports.
